When it comes to ordering custom stickers, one of the most important decisions you can make is figuring out the best size to get. Choose a size that is too small, and your design may get lost in the shuffle. Get a size that is too large, and it may fail to impress your fans or potential customers. Product labels often have specific size requirements as well, and incorrectly sized labels may actually send out the wrong message for your brand. Because this is such an important decision, let’s take a closer look at some things to consider when deciding the size of your stickers or labels.

Choosing a Label Size

Regardless of the size of your design, one of the first things to consider is where you plan on applying your labels. Will they need to be a specific size to match your product packaging? Also, keep in mind, a single brand label can be used for multiple purposes and package sizes, so it’s good to think about the smallest sized surface you plan on applying your labels to. Getting the right sized labels for your products will help you present them in a professional way whether they are on display for sale, or already in the hands of your customers.

Be sure to measure your package dimensions, and work inside of these sizes to ensure your labels will not be too large, or too small for your packaging. An easy way to do this is by using a piece of paper placed where you want your label to be applied. You can then work from that piece of paper to cut and shape your ideal label dimensions. Then you can easily measure your piece of paper to get an accurate size for your custom labels.

Choose a Sticker Size

When thinking about the perfect size for your custom stickers, it’s good to keep in mind how your fans would be most likely to use them. If you plan on handing out your stickers at an event, you may want to think about getting a slightly larger size. A size of 2x3.5 inches is about the same size as a business card, and works great for custom logo stickers since it presents a lot of flexibility for your fans to find a place to stick your logo or designs just about anywhere.

Sometimes a sticker just needs to be bigger! In cases where your stickers are meant to go on cars or trucks, keep in mind most people put these here to have them seen. So, stickers that are about 5 inches in size and larger are generally large enough to be seen from a small distance away, depending on the level of detail in your designs.

How Big Is That?

If thinking about the size of your custom stickers in terms of inches, and dimensions, is hard to visualize, here are a few size comparisons to things we see all the time.

A Quarter is about an inch in diameter, and this size works great for supporting branding labels, or small easy to hand out stickers.

An Oreo Cookie is about 2 inches in diameter for a size that allows for a nice sized logo and visible designs, in a size that will still be easily seen if applied to the back of a phone or laptop.

Standard business cards are usually 2x3.5 inches, and ovals and rectangles in this size are popular options for custom stickers and labels. This size is easy to share with your fans at events to get your logo out in the world, and also works well to label a variety of package sizes for versatility in your branding.

Custom Shapes and Sizes for Stickers and Labels

Custom shapes that break the mold of symmetrical designs, such as squares, ovals, circles, or even hearts and stars, can be tricky to fit into a common size. We always offer the option for custom shapes and sizes. Choose “custom shape” and let us know the sizes you want your stickers or labels to be, in the “width” and “height” fields when choosing your custom sticker size. We’ll base the finished size of your sticker on your custom dimensions. We also measure custom shapes based on the widest, and tallest areas of your sticker, when measured in a straight line across your design.
