Beartooth Vanworks has a philosophy of “Rugged Liberation” that they build into every elegant van conversion they produce, whether it’s one of their five builds or a custom design. In recent years, the van life trend has taken the combined worlds of lodging, travel and adventure by storm, with people living out of custom-built creations of their own design or from converters like Beartooth Vanworks. Car makers are taking notice as elements of van design are entering the general automotive industry.

Since their business falls within a growing sector of the adventure travel and alternative lodging industries, creating brand identity was a crucial component for the marketing team at Beartooth Vanworks. To achieve maximum exposure and impact, they put their all-orange growling bear logo and geographic location on the front of a custom circle-shaped silkscreen sticker. Then they complement the front by putting their tagline, contact information and social media handles on the back design. They even put a smaller, black version of the bear logo on the back for another brand imprint. By using both sides of the sticker design, they have taken advantage of available surface area on the sticker to include important information that their customers can use.

The company takes their name from the Beartooth Mountains found in south central Montana and northwest Wyoming. This rugged range is part of the 944,000 acres in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness and stretches across the Custer, Gallatin and Shoshone National Forests. The Beartooths are home to Granite Peak, the highest point in the state of Montana at 12,807 feet. The namesake peak found in the range, Beartooth Peak, looks just like a bear’s tooth, hence the name.

Adventure is the passion that drives the whole company. “We’re all avid outdoorsmen and women. Whether it be skiing, snowboarding, snow-machining, fishing, hunting, or hiking, we love exploring our backyard in Bozeman and beyond,” says Nic Thoman, Head of Marketing at Beartooth Vanworks. “We’re extremely blessed to have such a beautiful surrounding natural environment we can run to whenever we need a break from the hustle and bustle of work life. It also provides a great proving ground for our van conversions.”

They build custom van conversions with the philosophy that they will be carried on to that fourth generation owner and beyond. They use extremely high quality materials and build styles in their vans that allow the owners to explore far beyond where a normal sprinter van conversion would take them. Montana is full of washboard roads, off-road trails, and snowy mountains, and they build vans with the intention of going on all of these unsought trails.

They’re an employee-owned company, and they also pride themselves as an employee-tested company. They put their work through the gauntlet, often working the company van more than most of their customers would dare. They fully believe in the ethos of Rugged Liberation, and they’re happy to provide their customers with that same mentality when they leave the shop.

This team truly loves what they do. “The in-house build team is by far the backbone of our entire company,” Thoman says. “Every person at Vanworks is incredibly skilled in what they do, and this team brings their craftsmanship to the forefront of every build. Our company thrives off their innate ability to take problems and turn them into beautiful solutions.”

More About Screen Printed Stickers

Silkscreen stickers are created by using old-school printing techniques. Screen printed stickers are the most durable kind of sticker you can get. Automotive shops use them for products because they are thicker and more waterproof than other options. Outdoor recreation brands use these stickers because, well, they are great on outdoor surfaces for many years. Sports teams that wear helmets use silkscreen stickers because they can stand up to the sun and the elements. Silkscreen stickers are best when used for outdoor applications like bumper stickers, car windows, or storefront windows.

All silkscreen printed stickers and labels use very durable UV resistant inks for extreme applications demanding extreme durability. When you’re sending vans out into the wild blue yonder, a custom sticker that will last for years is the best way to spread your brand into the world. Beartooth Vanworks makes sure they are well represented with a great design and solid messaging for their customers to share their story. It’s a good thing the custom sticker is designed to withstand the elements along with the van.
